Why do the wipes need to be lint-free?
Because gel polish layers are sticky before curing, and ordinary cotton sheds. A single stray fibre under your colour shows in the finish and can lift the layer above it. Lint-free means nothing gets between your nail and the next coat.
Can I use cotton pads or paper towel instead?
You can, but your finish will tell on you. Regular cotton pads and paper shed fibres exactly where you don't want them: on the sticky layer, in the remover soak, under the colour. The wipes exist because the alternative shows.
What do I use the wipes for?
